STATISTICAL STUDY

To highlight concrete data, there has been applied a questionnaire made of 13 questions on a swatch of 672 pupils, from National College “Eudoxiu Humuzachi” from Radauti, in grades IXth - XIIth , with ages between 14 and 19 years. The questionnaire had questions referring to alcohol consumption, the circumstances of this consumption and the sum of money dedicated to this addiction.

The complete questionnaire can be viewed by clicking on the next link: >>>Questionnaire<<< . The obtained results were very interesting and we present them to you, graphical represented and grouped by classes. To view the graphic , just click on the respective class.

       The questionnaire revealed the followings:
Those who consume the least alcohol are the 9th graders, the percentage being of 14%. 33% of the 12th graders admit drinking alcohol, but the highest percentage was obtained amongst the 11th graders (67%).
Being asked how often they consume alcohol, 61% of the 9th graders said that they don’t consume at all, while the others say that they consume occasionally. Sadly, there are students that admit that they tend to drink on a daily basis. 62% of the 9th graders said that they don’t drink alcohol, while 70% of the others said that they drink alcohol only at parties.
Most of the students affirmed that they had no problems with their parents due to alcohol consumption. We could observe that the pupils don’t spend too much money on alcohol. Most of them say that they spend less than 10 lei per month on alcoholic products.
The students have been asked how mature they feel when they consume alcohol. They had to respond by picking a number between 1 and 10. Here, the results were quite interesting. Although there are many that say that they feel of a 2,3 or 4 level (18%), there are enough that claim that alcohol makes them feel of a 9 or 10 level (9%).
The most worrying results were obtained when the students were asked if they were willing to give up alcohol. 60% of the 9th, 10th and 11th graders said that they are willing to give up, but the percentage of those who said that they couldn’t was about 37%. 75% of the 12th graders say that they are willing to give up alcohol.
We observe a gradual increasing of the number of alcohol consumers once the students grow in age, but in the same time grows the pupils’ maturity and they are able to figure out the effects of alcohol on their lives.
The fact that surprised us the most was that the consumers claim that they had no problems with their parents due to alcohol consumption. Why is that ?!
